A buying guide from KinyoziHQ

Compare barbershop software for Kenyan shops

Compare booking, payment matching, staff pay and closing reports using the same five demo tasks. This is KinyoziHQ’s buyer checklist, not an independent product ranking or a hands-on competitor review.

Use the same five tasks in every demonstration.

  1. Book a real service: choose a barber, duration and price, then change the time.
  2. Add a walk-in: show how the customer fits around existing appointments.
  3. Record payments: show cash and your actual M-Pesa arrangement, including a payment that needs checking.
  4. Work out pay: use your commission rule, a refund if relevant and a documented advance.
  5. Close the day: find the sales, payment totals, expenses and staff earnings from the owner’s view.

Use a sample from your own shop, but remove customers’ personal details from anything you share. Ask the provider to explain what is live, what needs setup and what is not supported.

The commission tool gives you a known result to compare against. The cash-up worksheet gives you a simple closing example.

A starting point for your shortlist.

KinyoziHQ focuses its offer on Kenyan barbershop operations: bookings, M-Pesa and cash records, barber commissions, clients, stock and branches. Explore the workflow pages and use a demo to check the details that matter in your shop.

Fresha publishes software plans for independent operators and teams, with booking, POS, client and inventory features. Its pricing page separates subscriptions, marketplace acquisition fees, communications and payment-related charges. If you are comparing a Fresha alternative in Kenya, check country availability and the current terms for your own payment setup rather than assuming every listed service is offered locally. Spark presents itself as software for Kenyan salons, spas and barbershops, with operational features including bookings and inventory. Use the same task list to evaluate its fit and ask for the current quote. Source: Spark’s official website, checked 30 September 2026.

You may also encounter BeautyFlow or Booksy while making a shortlist. Treat brand popularity as a reason to investigate, not as evidence that the provider supports your exact commission and M-Pesa workflow. This is KinyoziHQ’s buying guide, not an independent ranking or a hands-on test of those products.

Write down the answers that can change the decision.

Use these questions with every provider
AreaWhat to ask
Payment matchingCan you follow a receipt to the right service and staff member?
Staff accessWhat can each role see or change?
CommissionHow are discounts, refunds, shared work and advances handled?
ConnectivityWhat happens if the connection fails, and how do records catch up?
Customer recordsHow do you control access, permissions and marketing preferences?
Leaving the serviceCan you obtain your data in a usable format, and what does it cost?
SupportWho answers a problem during your trading hours?

Do not fill a blank answer with an assumption. Mark it “needs confirmation” and resolve it before you rely on that feature in your operating plan.

Compare the cost at your actual size.

Write down the expected staff count, locations and message usage, then ask for the price on that basis. Confirm setup work, recurring fees, payment-related charges and the terms for adding another branch.

For KinyoziHQ, the pricing page explains what to bring to a quote discussion. A free demo gives you a chance to inspect the workflow; it is not an ongoing free-software plan.

If your business mixes a salon and a kinyozi, use the combined-shop checklist too. Long services, shared resources and more complex staff splits can change what “booking software” needs to do.

Put KinyoziHQ through the same test.
